Stock Market – Is The Market Oversold

The market has sold of sharply over the past few weeks but when you look at the big picture the uptrend is still intact. I’ve been bearish on the stock market since June 1st when I saw the small caps begin to break down which I wrote about here on this blog. Since then stocks have sold off considerably and are now reaching some of my downside objectives. The head in shoulders pattern in the small caps (IWM) has met its downside objective on Thursday. In the above chart of the S&P I marked off the 3 major retracements the S&P has experienced since this uptrend began which was about a year ago. You’ll notice that this recent decline in the S&P is almost exactly the same magnitude in terms of percentages and points as the previous two pullbacks.  Having said that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bounce in the stock market which in my opinion will be another shorting opportunity.  Lets see how things unfold.

Gold/XAU Ratio Portends to Massive Gains

Investors who purchase distressed gold stocks at these bombed-out levels might earn big double or triple-digit gains over the next 12-18 months, according to the gold-to-XAU ratio below.

The performance differential between physical gold and the gold mining shares hasn’t been this out of whack since early 2009.

If an investor purchased gold stocks in the first quarter of 2009 when the financial system was still reeling he would have earned more than 130% twelve months later. A similar trajectory to future profits now lies in the same matrix following a massive drubbing since the first week of May.

The gold-to-XAU ratio (see below) divides the price of gold bullion by the Philadelphia Gold & Silver Index (XAU) of large-cap mining stocks. The ratio closed at 7.91 on Friday – the highest since early 2009.

According to research courtesy of Dr. John Hussman (The Hussman Funds), previous declines in gold stocks compared to gold bullion have resulted in huge gains for mining shares. Sin

Coca-Cola, with eyes on the Shanghai Stock Exchange

Best Growth Stock Coca-Cola, the producer of soft drinks in the world, is negotiating with the Chinese authorities in order to cast its shares in the Shanghai Securities Exchange (SSE).

As announced it few days ago Geoff Walsh, director of communications of Coca-Cola for the Asia-Pacific region, the company is contemplating seriously the possibility of issuing shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange; negotiations with the Chinese Government are very well under way.

Allow the emission, Coca-Cola would be the first Western company with a presence of this kind in the Asian giant, whose Government does not allow foreign companies to issue shares on the Mainland of the country.

The stock exchange of Hong Kong (HKSE for its acronym in English) is the only place in China where can trading shares of foreign companies.

Profit From Understanding This Financial Market Secret

From a young age I can remember my father saying, “Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.” My father was talking about the wars and mistakes that people and governments make. Those mistakes have thrown many economies and whole countries into turmoil and in the worst of cases caused the deaths of many.

As I get older, I notice that many of us have heard this saying. We try hard to live that way.

A person who doesn’t drink coffee may not know to check how hot it is before he takes a big gulp. He burns his mouth, but that shocking (and painful) experience would make him more cautious and take a smaller sip next time. This memory would most likely last the rest of his life.

You can find examples of this all around you!

Another might be taking a curve at high speed in your car and having to brake violently to avoid an accident. I bet your next trip around that curve would be much slower and more calculated.

Financial markets, on the other hand, are different.

They would have no problem trying to take that turn at a high speed again and again, even if they had crashed before.
